So I was registering for classes today and was looking around the engineering webpages to see what I can take and noticed this picture:

PSA [28 Apr 2004|03:10pm]
So I haven't posted in forever, but don't expect anything juicy and or personal. I am posting because I found an amazing site (there was a story on Slashdot).

http://www.allofmp3.com

Its a Russian based site that is selling unencrypted digital audio for $0.01 per meg. You have a choice of formats (mp3, ogg vorbis, wma etc) and bit rates. You can also get lossless audio and some additional lossy formats for $0.02 per meg. I think this is because they have already compressed the stuff that costs $0.01, but they do the $0.02 stuff on demand.

In case you don't get the math, you can get the entire Lost In Translation soundtrack @ 320 kbit mp3 for about $1.25 Or @ 128k for about 50 cents.

Not particularly sure how its so cheap, but people vouched for it on Slashdot, so I am assuming they wont use your creditcard badly. You can use pay pay anyways, which is probably a good idea.

If I had to guess I would say that this wont last forever, so you might want to get what you want while you can.

Postgame Activities [29 Sep 2003|02:16pm]
Hey all, haven't posted in a long time and figured this weekend was pretty action packed. I was glad to see the Tigers win at home, even if it was no great effort. I was impressed that they reduced the amount of security (since no one was all that impressed that we won). I hope they will continue with the reduced numbers of yellow jackets, because it just looks dumb when they come out and surround the field. Anywho, enough ranting.

After the game, we (eventually) picked up some food and headed over to McBradPointe. Well, I decided that it was a good a night as any to try out drinking for real (aside from the couple drinks I had New Years Eve. Adam wasn't drinking, so I got him agree to drive my car back. Howie had already been drinking quite a bit by the time I started, So I took a couple shots of vodka, then a half a shot the finish off the bottle (to stop howie). Then a little while later, I took another; at this point I had had 3 and a half, but I wasn't feeling anything other than a warm feeling in my ears. So I took a few more. Then people started playing quarters an I took a few more, and decided that was enough. All together I made it to 10 shots, mostly rum. It was certainly an interesting feeling, although not exactly what I expected. Overall it wasn't a bad experience.

The next morning, I woke up at about 9 and really thought I was gonna puke, but I didn't and so it was a success. Time to go, later guys.

Well, I managed to get away with not posting for more than a month now. Sweet deal. But then Heather caught me and demanded I post.

The job at my Dad's office has turned out pretty good. I have mostly been doing pc support stuff (setting up computers, fixing people's problems). **Nerd Warning** In case any of you decide you want to engineer a corporate network, let me tell you the two things that it should not include: Token-ring hardware and Novell software. Token-ring was IBM's networking standard that competed with ethernet. It might have been a good plan 10 years ago, but then 100mbit ethernet came out. Anyways, I spend much of my time converting people's computers over to ethernet. Novell, also a good plan 10 years ago before MS got its act together. **End Nerd Warning** Anywho, work overall has been fun, I like the people I work with, and I don't have to sit in a cube all day.

So today I went to the bank and withdrew money from the atm, something I must have done 50 times. But this time, it was money I actually earned from a real job, and it was definitely satisfying. I am fighting the urge to buy lots of random computer geek stuff (a kvm switch, a 3rd 120GB hard drive so I can top Odie :), a flat panel).

I started reading the first book in the Mission Earth series by L. Ron Hubbard, I read to like book 6 (of 10) freshman year, but never finished it. It is very fun/funny sci fi and easy reading. Its like Battlefield Earth, you see the perspective of both the good guy and the bad guy and sympathize with both, however is much more light hearted. I liked BE a lot and the ME series is good stuff, I think I like them a lot because they don't seem the have the self-importance that a lot of sci-fi authors tend towards, they are totally about entertainment.

Ok, so since this post is at least twice as long as my first one, I should be good for a couple more months. :)
Anywho, hope every one is having a good summer, and I am looking forward to being back in Auburn.

Good Night

Hey guys, been missing everybody this summer, and I'm tired of reading other people's friends pages, so I got one myself.

Finally got a job for the summer, my first real job actually. Its at my dad's office doing stuff for their intranet and maybe some network stuff. It should be fun, and will definitely be better than what I've been doing so far since the wedding (namely sitting around a lot).

I better get to sleep, gotta get up early and take a drug test (I knew there was some reason I turned down that smack).
